-
Yes! New athletes can give it a go with a two-week trial for just $20. If they continue to full registration, that $20 comes off their registration fee.
-
Age groups are based on the age your child turns during the calendar year, calculated from 1 January. Your child stays in that same age group for the whole season. You can find the full birth-year guide on our Registration page or on LAQ’s website

Athletes compete in the official Ormeau Little Athletics uniform in our approved club colours. You'll need a polo, singlet or crop top, plain black shorts or bottoms, enclosed shoes, and your registration bib on the front. A hat and sunscreen are strongly encouraged for our outdoor Saturday mornings.
-
Competition is held on Saturday mornings at Ormeau Woods State High School, 148 Goldmine Road, Ormeau. Warm-ups start at 8:15am and competition gets underway at 8:30am. We usually wrap up between 10:30 and 11:00am.
-
Yes — a parent or carer must stay for the whole morning. Little Athletics isn't a drop-off sport, and for our youngest athletes in particular, having you there is part of the fun. No parent means no participation.
-
Our club is run entirely by volunteers — parents and carers just like you. Every family is expected to lend a hand, but no experience is needed and there's a role for everyone. You might help with set-up or pack-down, age managing, measuring jumps and throws, timekeeping or the canteen.
-
A decision on competition is made by 7am on competition day and any cancellation is posted to our Facebook page. On hot days we follow Little Athletics Queensland's extreme heat guidance, which looks at both temperature and humidity. We may shorten the program, add extra breaks, or cancel if conditions are unsafe.
-
Results are recorded each week in ResultsHQ. Visit ResultsHQ or download the ResultsHQ app and log in using your Sport:80 account details to view your child's results, personal bests and progress throughout the season.
-
No stress! Just come in, find your child's age group and check in with their Age Manager. You won't be turned away for being a little late.
-
Throughout the season there are optional carnivals including club carnivals hosted by other centres, LAQ carnivals such as the Coles Spring and Summer Carnivals, and regional and state competition for athletes U9 and above. Nominations are made through Sport:80 (except for Relays which are through our club) and a nomination fee applies. Keep an eye on our Facebook page and the LAQ website for dates and details.

Most parents who help on the field — age managing, measuring, that sort of thing — don't need a Blue Card as long as their own child is participating. Committee members, coaches and officials do need one. Not sure? Just ask the Committee.
